Caregiving..

Caregiving includes making the patient comfortable, and givng total care for the patient.

Caregiving is very important. Why? It's because in caregiving you make your patient comfortable, providing him/her food that is appropriate for him/her and also the appropriate activities the patient can do. It's simply the way patient can feel that there's someone caring for them. Caregiving also makes the patient's recovery faster. You also consider the bed positions depending on their condition. Make them do activities that is appropriate for them so that their feelings of uselessness and hopelessness affects the patient's negativity. Cheering them up is part of caregiving. You also need to give your heart in caregiving, not literally. The patient will feel loved by giving care to them.

1.  If you are a good home nurse, what are the various home nursing techniques that you need to apply that will make the patient feel comfortable and speed up the recovery?
-To make the patient feel comfortable, as what I have learned in our TLE subject, we should always keep the patient's room clean for the fast recovery of the patient's condition. We also need to assure the patient our full support and understanding by maintaining a cheerful disposition because with that the patient will feel comfortable.
2.  Why should the home nurse monitor the vital signs of the patient?
-The home nurse should monitor the vital signs of the patient to be kept in track about the condition of the patient.
3.  How do you take the body temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure of the patient?
In taking the patient's body temperature, we use thermometer. Thermometer can be either placed in the patient's mouth, armpit or in rectum.
In taking the patient's pulse rate, We locate the pulse by using either of our two fingers except the thumb (because the thumb has its own pulse ), then we can feel it either at the wrist, neck, ankle, or at the temple. After that, we count the beats for 1 minute.
In taking the patient's blood pressure, we use a sphygmomanometer with the stethoscope to hear the signals or the sound.First sound is the systolic and the second sound is the diastolic pressure.
In taking the patient's respiratory rate, the patient should sit straight and breathe normally. We use the stethoscope to hear the breathing of the patient and also hi/her breathing condition.
4.  What are some practices that the home nurse must follow that will promote comfort to the patient?
-The home nurse should practice and follow the characteristics, duties and responsibilities, and the basic principles that a home nurse should remember so that the patient will feel comfortable. The range of breathing is 12-20 breaths per minute.
5.  How will you differentiate signs from symptoms of illnesses and diseases?
- Though signs and symptoms describe the same conditions, these two are different in many characteristics. While signs are what a doctor sees, symptoms are what a patient experiences. A symptom can be defined as one of the characters of a disease. Meanwhile, sign is the definite indication of a specific disease.
6.  If you are the doctor, what will be your basis in giving the diagnosis for your patient?
-As a doctor, my basis in giving a diagnosis for the patient is by asking him/her history of sickness and conducts some test to prove if he/she is sick so that I will know his/her condition and take ction if there is so. Always keep in mind, “Prevention is better than cure."

Administering medicines to the patient

Administering medicines is a common but important clinical procedure. As a home nurse, you need to know how to properly administer medicines to the patient. The practice of administering medicines involves providing the patient with a substance prescribed and intended for the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of medical illnesses or condition. Proper administering of medicines helps in the fast recovery of the patient. There are a lot of things you will learn in administering medicines.

First and foremost, you need to know how to properly administer medicines to the patient by knowing  what's the illness of the patient. It sounds so wrong if you give him/her medicine for eyes instead nasal drops. As a home nurse, you should consider the illness of the patient so you will know what medicine you should give. Second, you need to consider the  side effects of the medicine to the patient and check whether the patient is allergic to that certain kind of medicine. Third,as a home nurse, you should consider the right amount of dosage given to the patient because if you just give him/her medicines without following the prescription of the doctor regarding on the amount of dosage, consequences are: the patient will be overdosed and the illness of the patient will get worse.

Proper administering medicines to the patient really helps a lot in the fast recovery of the patient. Of course, as a home nurse, your goal is the recovery of the patient so it's a big thing. Fast recovery of the patient requires giving the patient the right medicine at a right pace and giving the right amount of dosage prescribed by the doctor. As a home nurse, you should also consider giving the right medicine to the right patient at the right time. It sound so wrong if you will give the medicine to the healthy being and not to the patient. the recovery of the patient requires giving the right medicine with the right amount of dosage to the right patient at the right time and in the right route and in right approach.

Health care

First and foremost, what's a health care? As the source says, Health care (or healthcare) is the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, illness,  injury, and other physical and mental impairments in humans. Health care is important not just to an individual but to the family and community as well. I believe, "Prevention is better than cure." health care can be done by everyone in the family or anyone.

Health care is important to an individual because even without the help from others, if we get sick, we handle ourselves and know what to do and what not to do in times like that. It helps us to prevent our body from having diseases and illnesses. Like I said,"prevention is better than cure." Health care is important to the family because it just not about giving care physically, it develops our emotional bond with the members of the family. It's not just care and health that we can get from our family members but also the strong bond and closeness we will have and develop. To the community, health care is important because people should know how to give a basic care to their loved ones. People would be able to give care even in the smallest way they can and people will know what they will do and not to do in times when there is sicknesses.

Therefore, I can say health care is not just important to an individual but also to the family and community as well. Health care can be done by everybody even in any way they can. "Prevention is better than cure" so people should learn these things for them to be healthy always.Health care develops our closeness and bond to the other family members. It helps us to be aware to prevent ourselves from getting sick and stay healthy all the times.

Our recycled crafts project...

Our recycled craft project???Well,we made friendship bracelets and bags made of yarn , a flower vase and hairbands.. It was so fun making it. I even practiced on how to do crochet, and I learned how to do it except the full effort I gave in practicing it. I tell you this,,YOU NEED A LOT OF EFFORT if you want to make a beautiful friendship bracelets and bags. It was very tiring making it.
The friendship bracelets and bags were made by crocheting yarns, and buttons and the vase was made out of a 1.5 bottle of coke and designed with yarns, ribbons and etc and the hairbands were designed with ribbons, that feathery stuff(i don't know what they call it. XD).
Well, I decorated the hairbands and I have to deal with lots of stick glue that always sticks in my hands which really hurts. I felt very happy and proud of the outputs we have. I mean it's a nice feeling knowing that you made something that is useful and made of recyclable stuffs. I didn't just learned how to make bracelets, hairbands, vase but also how to use recycled stuffs in many ways.

If we're going to sell our project, I think people will patronize them since it's affordable and useful. The bracelets would be 25 pesos each , the small bag would be  40 pesos, the bigger bag would be 100 pesos (It's sooo hard making it and  a lot of effort..),the hairbands would be 20-25 pesos each and the vase would be 45-60 pesos..XD

The bigger bag made by one of my groupmates named macy..

I'm so proud I made this.(fake tears mode)
